Here's your chance to dip your toes in the sparkly waters of resin and jewelry making!

We'll guide you through the ins and outs of designing, creating, and assembling with an assortment of decorative materials at your disposal to embed into a colorful array of two part epoxy resin. Think dried flowers, beads, glitter, and small decorative items!

All supplies are provided including a practice piece that you may turn into a necklace or keychain. We also encourage you to bring any small decorative items to explore how to further personalize your piece!

You'll walk away from this workshop with your practice piece and a stunning pair of earrings or a necklace (your choice) that is so uniquely yours.

About the Instructor:

Trice Clark is a mom, maker, and all-around DIY enthusiast. As a self-taught artist she has dabbled in different mediums from woodworking to welding. Using these skills Clark has built activations for local Detroit music festivals, parties, and brand events. Prior to the pandemic her do it yourself workshop, Designer Hack, guided attendees through recreating high-end trends in accessories and home decor for a fraction of the cost. She began making jewelry in 5th grade and exhibited her work in Michigan Fashion Week, Fashion Massacre, and during Detroit’s Month of Design. Whether its hosting classes or creating installations Trice Clark always sets out to make enjoying art an interactive experience.

Perfect for those who love a conversational piece. The intricate design work taught in this class is sure to produce head turning accessories.

Through this 3 hour workshop, we’ll explore the possibilities of what can be created from polymer clay. Trice will guide you through the process of layering and cutting to create striking patterns for one-of-a-kind drop earrings. Dive into decorative techniques such as terrazzo, stripes, and marble effects. Move on to creating the holes to add your jump rings, and learn techniques to add the backings of your earrings.

While it is not required, we do recommend starting with Trice’s Shaping & Color Mixing Essentials Workshop. This session will touch on the same foundational techniques for making jewelry from scratch, however it will move at a faster pace to cover new skills.

Everyone will bring home a stunning pair of drop earrings featuring your custom, intricate designs as well as an assortment of practice beads!

Learn all about porcelain decorating techniques as you make a unique bud vase of your own!

In this 3 hour workshop, you will get to choose your vase from a selection of pre-thrown greenware—each designed and hand thrown by Rachel Gervais. With a variety of color underglaze paints at your disposal, Rachel will walk you through glazing techniques as you decorate your chosen piece.

Once your glaze is set, your vase will be loaded into the kiln to be fired. All vases will be ready for pick up 1 week after class when the kiln firing is complete.

About the Instructor:

Rachel Gervais is an artist + educator based in Hamtramck, MI. With a BFA in Ceramics from CCS, Rachel has used her education to fuel her love for craft and share those skills with all ages. She loves exploring the quality of texture and the intimate relationship of holding a cup, bowl, or small vase.

Discover the world of artful mixed media collage with Brie Moblo. This hands-on workshop will help you cultivate your artistic aesthetic and creative thinking.

Working with recycled, found, and handcrafted papers and fabrics, students will build on their unique artistic aesthetics with a philosophy toward seeking new discoveries. A blend of techniques will be explored, using a combination of needle, thread, sewing machines, and adhesives to enhance your sense of composition, color, texture, and shape. This workshop will focus on creative thinking and will help students approach collage-making with the eyes of an artmaker.

Students will take home a frame-able 11” x 14” art piece as well as an assortment of practice samples.

Mutual Adoration frames will be available in the shop at a 20% discount for workshop attendees.

This 4-1/2 hour workshop is all about taking baby steps into the world of ceramics. We'll guide you on how to construct clay like a pro, ensuring your masterpiece is as sturdy as it is stylish. From imprinting textures to adding shapes, we're all about letting your creativity run wild. When the dust (or rather, clay) settles, you'll be the proud parent of a planter, complete with a tailor-made tray. Now, how's that for a clay date?

Your bespoke planter will be ready for collection 2 weeks after class, post its bisque firing glow-up.

Woodworking Workshop: Reclaimed Wood Assemblage Wall Hanging

Join us for a fun session of creating art pieces using reclaimed wood. Get a peek at our wood shop, learn how to use hand tools, and experience the behind-the-scenes world of working with locally sourced reclaimed wood while building your own design. 

During this make + take workshop, we will teach you how to construct a framed assemblage using various types, colors, and configurations of wood. This project is perfect for experimentation or you may design a piece to fit your color scheme at home. We’ll be hands-on all afternoon - painting, staining, cutting, gluing, nailing, and assembling. No woodworking experience is needed!

Each student will create their own unique piece with pattern, color, and texture. Mutual Adoration will provide all materials needed, including frames, and hanging hardware for each finished piece. 

• Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Stain, paint, and finishing oils will stain your clothing!

• All students must wear closed toe shoes for this workshop.

About the instructors:

Clare and Wayne, co-founders of Mutual Adoration and POST, are native Detroiters (West side meets East side) and they love sharing their work and their city with the world. Mutual Adoration goods can be found in fine shops and contemporary craft galleries all over the country. Mutual Adoration is a combined effort to meld their individual passions and talents for design, craft, and history. In early 2017, they moved their design and production operations to POST and opened the retail shop later that year. Clare and Wayne have curated the studios, shop, and educational programming in an effort to promote contemporary craft and provide a space for learning, creating, and connecting.

Boss Dotty goods are assembled and packaged by hand with lots of love and attention to detail. Our cards are made with 100 percent cotton paper and paired with envelopes in super saturated shades. Boss Dotty Paper Co. is named for Theresa’s grandmother Dorothy, a veritable DIY queen and whose creativity, independence and perseverance are at the core of what we do.

Lauren Harrington is an artist living and working in Detroit. With a spirit for experimenting in all mediums, she focused on ceramics in college, illustration post college, then honed in on a multi media studio practice while studying fashion design in Los Angeles and working for a master fine art screen printer. She is now focused on painting / wallpaper design, founding the company Walla Walla Walls in 2021.
