Celebrate National Poetry Month with your POST pals!
Have poems in your heart and don’t know where to start? In this workshop, we will learn the fundamentals of writing poems for personal fulfillment, draft creative prompts for future poems, and write some poems together to explore the process. This class is perfect for folks who are new to poetry or have always felt unsure about writing. Our goal is to have fun and put the pen to the page!
In part one, you will:
- Learn the fundamentals of poetry
- Write several poems, exploring some tried and true formats
- Assemble prompts and inspiration for writing poems in the future
After ruminating and rewriting, we will come back to print short poems, phrases, and passages in the POST print shop. Your prints may be displayed as posters, cut into stationery, or turned into zines. There are so many possibilities for your words once printed!
In part two, we will:
- Learn about letterpress printing
- Set vintage type on a sign press
- Ink and print the type using a variety of colors
- Discuss a wide array of uses for your prints
