This 3-hour hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction to relief printmaking!
We’ll demonstrate and discuss the linocut printmaking process from beginning to end, including specific tools, materials and techniques required to start making your own unique prints. Each participant will not only have the chance to practice carving linoleum blocks but will also get to experiment with hands-on printing methods. Use pre-made templates or bring in drawings/designs of your own.
These block printing techniques can be used to customize wrapping paper, cards, tags, prints, and more!
Everyone will leave with an enthusiastic grasp of inking basics, printing techniques, their carved block, and a one-of-a-kind print! As an added bonus, Mutual Adoration frames will be available in the shop at a 20% discount for workshop attendees.
About the Instructor:
Holly is a new transplant to Detroit having recently moved from St. Louis, Missouri. Holly taught a variety of art and plant classes at an art studio in the Central West End of St. Louis – dyeing, planting, felting, paper crafting, candle making, abstract painting, and more. She has a B.A. in Advertising and experience in other creative industries – food photography, recipe development, technical writing and print design. Students will appreciate her upbeat and laid-back approach to creating art. You will hear her signature phrase “it’s going to look hand-made because it is!” and will foster your confidence to create. Holly believes art is all about the “making” – anyone can buy art, but learning to make it is much more interesting!
