Two Day Ceramic Workshop: Handbuilding Mugs

Saturday April 26th from 10:30am to 2:30pm 

Saturday May 3rd from 10:30am to 1:30pm

Entry Level Class—No experience necessary

Age 16+ (minors must accompany an adult)

During this 2 day workshop, Rachel will guide you through different hand-building and decorating techniques to create a unique mug for you to take home. 

On day 1, you will be constructing the cup out of clay. Rachel will demonstrate different techniques and processes to build the mug by hand. You’ll have the rest of the class  to create your piece. 

On day 2, your mug will be ready to decorate using a variety of different color underglaze paints. After being decorated, you will apply glaze to make your mug usable and food safe. 

Once your glaze is set, your mugs will be loaded into the kiln to be fired. All mugs will  be ready for pick up 1-2 weeks after the firing is complete. POST will call/email to confirm pick up detail

About the Instructor:

Rachel Gervais is an artist and educator based in Hamtramck, MI. With a BFA in Ceramics from CCS, Rachel has used her education to fuel her love for craft and share those skills with all ages. She loves exploring the quality of texture and the intimate relationship of holding a cup, bowl, or small vase.
