Screen Printing Workshop: 6 Week Session for Beginners

Entry Level Class—No experience necessary

Age 18+

Every Wednesday March 12 through April 16

3 hours per class

Classes will run from 9am to 12pm or from 12pm to 3pm depending on the most popular choice. We will confirm the timing by March 1st and will email everyone registered. You will have the option at that time to cancel for a full refund if your chosen time doesn't make the cut.

Learn the basics of screen printing on paper and fabric through various image-making methods, many that can be easily replicated at home.

Students will create a series of single and multi-color prints while learning the potential of screen printing as a means of artistic expression for creating editions, monoprints, artist books, and more. Guided by their own interests, ideas, and images, students will investigate the printing process, exploring different methods to bring their vision to life on paper. Printing one-color t-shirts is also possible if students are interested.

Basic materials are included in the registration fee. Additional materials will be the responsibility of the student. These materials will cost approximately $50-75 depending on goals and preferences. The material list will given on the first day of class along with sourcing details.

About the Instructor:

Melissa Dettloff is an artist and teacher based in Detroit, and she has been screen printing for over twenty years. She makes colorful screen prints out of her home studio, which she shares with her greyhound, Bernadette.
